GridPunk is a standalone Neon District racing game, extracted from the owner’s Gridbound project. The city and cars are fictional; circuits include the original Neon District, Kairo Loop and six more adapted layouts, each in three stages.
Neon District is an original fictional layout and procedural city authored for GridPunk. Its night-city art direction was inspired by Dreamatron’s Neon Signal. No Dreamatron code, scene data, models, textures or audio are included.
These six layouts are adapted from the owner’s Gridbound / montmelo-circuit implementation, using © OpenStreetMap contributors map data under the Open Database Licence (ODbL), with the surveyed elevation profiles from that project. The derived centrelines are available in the source repository. Names, cities and scenery are fictional; they are not recreations of any real venue.
The Kairo Loop horizontal layout is adapted from the owner’s Gridbound / montmelo-circuit implementation, using © OpenStreetMap contributors map data under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). The derived centerline is available in the source repository. Street-level terrain, flyover and city scenery are a fictional adaptation, not a recreation of the real venue.
Neon District’s original ECHO, AKARI, NOCTILUCA, MIDNIGHT, ORBITAL, PULSE, SYNAPSE, NIGHTSHIFT and AERIAL billboard artwork was generated with OpenAI image generation. Its landmark buildings and connecting skybridges are original models authored in Blender, inspired by an owner-supplied concept image. Building surfaces, signs, the surrounding cityscape and wet-road effects are authored procedurally; no imagery from the visual reference is used as a game asset.
Kairo Loop’s ramen and bonsai holograms and Mars building billboard use owner-supplied videos. The bonsai music uses the first 10 seconds of the owner-supplied Shamisen Solo MP3, trimmed and normalized for looping. The billboard announcement uses the supplied soundtrack, processed with narrow-band speaker filtering, saturation and echoes. Video, poster and audio derivatives are included in the game.
The floating geisha holograms in Neon District use a video created in Grok and supplied by GridPunk’s owner. The game includes an optimized video, its original soundtrack with runtime spatial effects, and a poster frame. The koi holograms use a separate owner-supplied video, optimized for silent playback with a poster frame, accompanied by a separate owner-supplied Chinese guzheng music clip with runtime spatial effects.
Vehicles, buildings, UI and track materials were authored for the original Gridbound game and retained in GridPunk. The Shinsei ND-01 is based on the owner’s jev3d Blender car. Circuit images are captures of the original game.
The engine sample and the owner-supplied Neon District rain ambience were generated with ElevenLabs Sound Effects. The project owner has confirmed commercial-use rights for that asset. Other sound layers are synthesized in the game. No driver voice, onboard soundtrack or team recording is included.

The race menu uses Barlow Condensed by Jeremy Tribby, distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Menu artwork is captured from GridPunk; its circuit diagrams are derived from the same track splines used by the race.
